I was in NY for work on Ash Wednesday. As I was uptown around noon, I figured I’d catch noon mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. When I got there, I saw that the church had set up an express lane, labelled “Ashes Only”.

Here I am back at the office, as captured by Ryan Naraine.

“Remember that thou art from ashes, and to ashes thou shalt return.” Ash Wednesday is the most existential of the church’s rituals.
