Last one off the planet, turn out the lights

The WWF (that would be World Wildlife Fund, not World Wrestling Federation) says that the natural resources of the earth will be exhausted by 2050 at their current rate of consumption, according to the article linked above from the London Observer. And the US is the primary culprit, consuming more than any other country–and with the current political leadership, that ain't gonna change, folks.

While it's the WWF's job to be alarmist, the report is at least a wake-up call that things are not as peachy as the Bush administration (or, as the BBC called it the other day, the “current American regime”) would have you think. And it's in business's interest to pave the Earth–creating scarcity ensures a healthy profit margin.
