Lifestyle changes in the nick of time

I’ll tell you, with gas going up north of $3.00 a gallon, this telecommuting thing is looking better every day. What’s even better is that my kids and wife all spending their school days within a mile of home this year, so the day-to-day driving we’re doing is rapidly approaching zero.

And it’s a good thing, too, because we’re going to need that money to pay the gas bill for heating this place this winter. Look at the direction spot trading of natural gas and heating oil are going, and you’ll pray for a mild winter. Also note where the hub for natural gas is…New Orleans. Prepare to wear lots of sweaters.

George W. is headed toward approval-rating hell, and the mid-term elections aren’t far off. Maybe this energy price spike will end up changing the Republicans’ lifestyle, too.
