For most of us who surf the web , balance our check books and  do everything else we’ve always done with a home computer, the personal computer may be a little lonlier than it used to be, but it still seems important.  If you listen to the pundits, though, that desktop computer is as quaint as old-fashioned as an 8-Track player.
