As a result of the challenges facing districts looking at large-scale desktop virtualization, Accelera Solutions President Joe Brown says that many are piloting the technology in more manageable-sized projects as they prepare budget–and gain comfort with the skills and resources they’ll need to bring to bear on a more widespread virtualization push.

“We’ve got a dozen or so county school districts that are doing smaller implementations of the technology today,” says Brown, “to run test cases and to serve some labs and some things of that nature. And we believe that will increase dramatically over the next year or so as the budgets get a little better, and they’re more prepared to handle technologies like this.”
