Google Jumps Into E-Books (Just in Time for Christmas)

 

After a rocky start with the book publishing industry, Google has finally launched its own online e-bookstore. And it promises to shake up the universe of e-books, currently dominated by Amazon and Barnes & Noble. With the backing of over 4,000 publishers, Google’s eBooks starts off with what the company calls the world’s largest collection of e-books—including nearly 3 million that are free.

Finding Your Way to Black Friday Deals With Your Smart Phone

Usually, I forego the madness of shopping on Black Friday, and leave that to less reasonable people.  When I do go out shopping, though, I like to plan my excursions with military precision: get in, get what I need, get out and on to then next target. That means collecting intelligence in advance: scouring newspaper ads and websites for the best deals on the gifts I’m seeking, and then prioritizing them in terms of importance and mapping out my route.
